Classic 1970 Chevrolet Nova--Screaming 21st Century Color

Wow! This car is no fading violet. Maaco-Fremont's Car of the Day is a classic 1970 Chevrolet Nova that the owner has driven for years. The body was in sad shape but the car ran great and had a beautiful, upgraded engine & drivetrain. So the owner's friends convinced him it was time to put some love into the old girl. He did all the bodywork himself and decided the finishing touch would be to have Maaco-Fremont paint the car "Snakeskin Green Pearl"--the new Dodge Viper/Dodge Challenger special edition color. We were able to duplicate the color and pearl effect in an economical, single-stage paint to keep within the owners budget. The next step, he says, is to add some rally stripes and a clear coat in a month or two. So stay tuned.

Smithsonian Museum Hidden Car Collection

Supercharger, front wheel drive, all-aluminum body, 1929?!! Miller race car was just 6 to 8 decades ahead of its time. Thanks to Jalopnik for bringing this video to our attention. We are amazed to learn that the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. has an extensive and very historic car collection that is virtually impossible to see!

2006 Maserati Quattroporte with Auto Paint Service, Wet Sand & Polish

Today's Car of the Day is a 2006 Maserati Quattroporte that came in with scrapes & scratches plus some minor original paint imperfections. Maaco-Fremont repaired the scrapes and painted the rocker panel using the same type of high quality waterborne finish used at factory. We then "cut and buffed" various panels to eliminate surface scratches and to provide a more premium gloss finish.

1934 Packard V-12 Roadster

One of my favorite cars to DRIVE is a late 1920's or early 1930s Packard. I don't care if it is the V-12, the Straight-8 or Straight-6. They are all extraordinarily quiet, smooth & powerful. They feel almost like a current car (except for the huge steering wheel and shiny metal dash.) I've been very fortunate to have gotten to drive several including on freeways at speed in California. Each one felt stable, safe and they kept-up with modern traffic.



I never used to think Packards were a beautiful car, especially when compared to the Duesenbergs, Cords, Cadillacs, Rolls Royces and other great cars of that era. But after driving them I fell in love and understand why they were the cars wealthy and powerful in the early 20th century.

Maaco's Christmas Tree is an old ficus that really seems to like sitting in this window. Most customers think it is fake until it drops the occasional leaf or berry.

Car of the Day - 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z with Auto Collision repairs

Today's Car of the Day is a 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. It came to us in need of bodywork & paint. Maaco-Fremont repaired collision damage to left & right fenders, doors and quarter panels, rear bumper and cracked windshield. We replaced the front end with a custom fiberglass unit and lights that the customer special ordered. We also repaired cracks on the fiberglass rear spoiler and replaced a tail lamp and fuel filler door. The customer changed the color from black to a BMW red metallic using Maaco's high-end "Signature" 2-stage paint service. He also opted to paint the door jambs, under the hood and rear hatch to complete the color change. Finally, we tinted the windows with the darkest legal tints and re-installed "IROC-Z" and "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" decals. This car came out looking really good and the customer is real happy with the results. Thanks to the owner, "AMH," for letting us work on a really great car!

Car of the Day - 1974 Ford Maverick Restoration

Ol' Buzzard after Restoration at Maaco-Fremont

This 1974 Ford Maverick came to us in need of a restoration. The owner of the car, Don Schennek, has a heck on an engine and transmission in this car. Check under the hood at any number of local car shows to see it. But the outside of the car. . . well, let's be blunt, it was a bit chewed-up, rusty. . . ugly. Don had Maaco-Fremont repair dents on the doors, quarter panels, roof, trunk and fenders. We also welded shut 42 holes around the car where old mouldings used to mount. Maaco-Fremont repaired fiberglass cracks on the new "Grabber" hood. We treated the rust on the right and left quarter panels by welding in new metal and in some areas, rebuilt panels in fiberglass. Don changed the color from a dull orange to white. Don's "Ol' Buzzard" is a regular at Northern California auto shows and after his restoration, he received an invite to participate in the prestigious Classic & Custom Car Show in San Jose's McEnery Convention Center. Car of the Day - 1973 Buick LeSabre Rust Repair, Bodywork and Paint

Today's customer brought a cherished, decades-old Buick LeSabre in desperate need of rust repairs and paint. Vinyl tops are a notorious rust incubator. Moisture gets trapped under the top and finds its way into the metal so corrosion can begin & expand. The owner wanted to end this problem long term and preferred the clean look of the car without the vinyl top. So Maaco removed it, treated the rust and sealed holes left from the installation of the vinyl top. We also repaired a lot of dents and creases that the car accumulated over its long life.
