2011 G-Power BMW M3 GTS

2012 Honda CR-Z Mugen

The CR-Z MUGEN – the higher-performance mixture coupe is a joint project between Honda (UK) and MUGEN Euro – the Northampton-based subsidiary of Honda’s long standing tuning partner MUGEN. The CR-Z MUGEN will feature enhancements to both the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the Honda IMA system to boost power and torque, while bespoke brakes and suspension will be built-in to improve the chassis dynamics.

Lightweight components, including a carbon fibre bonnet, will be in work to lower the overall weight, and the car will use MUGEN alloy wheels to reduce unsprung mass.

To improve aerodynamics and give the car an even more honorable look, MUGEN body parts will be added, counting front and rear bumpers, and a spoiler.

When selecting the partner for the new model’s body design, Gumpert recognised that stylishness is part of the genetic code of Touring Superleggera’s creations. The Gumpert Tornante has the genes of the Gumpert apollo and inherits its imposing V8 biturbo engine. Weighing only 196 kg, the engine plays a major role in ensuring the perfect weight and the fascinating driving dynamics of the Tornante. An angle of 90° flanked by the two cylinder banks is a sign of a classic 8-cylinder engine.

Starting from the pure block from Audi, the engine is a total in-house development. Thus, the manufacturing process contains among others all the moving parts, air and fuel management, turbo chargers, charge air-duct and dry sump lubrication. In the essential version this engine delivers 700 HP. In comparison to the apollo, the configuration will be optimized for the Fast Touring mission. This means more comfort and more fitness for daily use.

Alongside the V8 power unit, an option powered Gumpert Tornante is also planned for 2012.
